Bleeding after Implant Surgery

It is normal for the gums to bleed more than they did before treatment. Do not stop cleaning as advised by us because of this reason. It is normal to have occasional blood stains in saliva for the first 4 to 5 hours. If there is excess bleeding, use sterile cotton or gauze piece & apply gentle pressure on the bleeding area for 20 minutes. Do not remove it during this period to examine if blood has stopped. You may apply an ice pack if suggested. Also incase the bleeding continues contact the clinic immediately swelling is usual for the first 3 to 4 days.

Consult with an implant dentist only

Before you commit yourself to an implant, you should make sure that the dentist who will be doing the work has the necessary training and experience. Many dentists have learned how to do implants on a trial and error basis, but that is not really good enough. You need someone who knows what to do and will do it right the first time.

Bring a support person for dental implant surgery

It is a good idea to bring a friend or relative to the operation and have them stay with you while you are under anesthesia. This way, they can watch the progress of the surgery and report anything that they think should be checked out. Having a support person can be of great benefit to the patient by increasing their confidence and feelings of security.

Take prescription medications as instructed

Some of the medications you may be given will cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. These side effects are not uncommon, but they can be serious if they go unchecked. It is important that you report these symptoms to the doctor, as there are often ways to alleviate them. You should also report any unusual bleeding or pain, as this may be a sign that the operation has not healed correctly.

Be sure you are in good physical condition

An operation like this is very delicate and exacting. If you don’t take care of your body now, it may not be able to heal itself properly later on. You should:

Avoid or stop smoking, as tobacco use has been found to interfere with the healing process.

Maintain a proper diet and nutritional intake.

Drink plenty of water.

Ask questions and learn about dental implants

If you have any questions about the operation, the implant, or the process, don’t be afraid to ask. The dentist will be more than happy to explain these things to you. He or she is really there to help and assist you in any way possible. It is important to know as much as you can about the procedure. By being aware of what to expect, you can help to reduce any anxieties that may be present. Knowing what will happen can also make the entire process go more smoothly.

Conclusion

If you have decided on a dental implant, you have made the correct decision. This is an excellent way to replace missing teeth and maintain a beautiful, healthy smile. You can ensure a successful outcome by taking care of your body and being careful with the procedure. An implant is a small surgical procedure that is designed to replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. Dental implants are typically used as a long-term solution for replacing teeth. Implants are most commonly used to replace the back teeth (molars or premolars) that were lost due to gum disease or an injury.
