Facial Aesthetics: Every face ages differently but there are certain commonalities between the ageing faces. The loss of fullness of youthful cheeks is lost. The fat from around the eyes and the cheek bone is lost resulting in a skull face. The skin loses the shin and the wrinkles start to appear. The skin of the neck starts to sag and jowls appear. The smile line changes with changes in the shape and colour of the teeth.
In cases; where the individual’s need is urgent then an alternate to orthodontic (braces and wires) treatment called as jaw surgery can be offered. This along with SAPTeeth prosthetic in SAPT.HIPC material helps restore natural aesthetics. This treatment can be performed on the same itself. There can be dramatic changes in the irregularities of the jaw bone. This enhances the jaw position and alignment with the smile.
Benefits of Facial Aesthetics Treatment are:
Improved airway circulation.
Aesthetic profile enhancement.
Better chewing and swallowing efficiency.
Improves the ability to close the mouth and lips properly.
Relives pain and discomfort at the TMJ region.
Although many of the abnormalities can be treated with orthodontics alone, a more extensive deformity can be corrected with cosmognathic surgery. Often bone or soft tissue may be augmented to further enhance facial aesthetics for orthognathic surgery.
Before Treatment - Cyst
After Treatment - Cyst
Cysts can develop if the gland or its duct (the passage through which the sebum leaves for the skin) gets damaged or blocked. This usually happens as a result of some sort of trauma in the area such as a scratch, a surgical wound, or a skin condition like acne. A skin cyst is a fluid-filled lump just underneath the skin. It’s common and harmless, and may disappear without treatment.

Facial trauma, also called maxillofacial trauma, is any physical trauma to the face. Facial trauma can involve soft tissue injuries such as burns, lacerations and bruises, or fractures of the facial bones such as nasal fractures and fractures of the jaw, as well as trauma such as eye injuries. It may take 5 to 7 days for the swelling to go down, and 10 to 14 days for the bruising to fade. It may be hard to eat at first. If you have stitches, the doctor may need to remove them about a week after surgery. It will probably take a few months for you to heal after surgery.

Cyst: A slight swelling in mouth could also result into a Cyst! This is the case of a 11 year old girl wherein we found a huge cyst at left jaw. The treatment was done with no scaring. The cyst was so big that only 2 mm of lower jaw bone was remaining leading to high chance of bone fracture. Maxillofacial surgery for cyst was done and there has been no jaw deformity after the surgery.

Before - Orthognathic Jaw Surgery
After - Orthognathic Jaw Surgery
Orthognathic jaw surgery is a surgical procedure performed to correct irregularities or misalignment of the jaw. Once your jaw is repositioned, tiny titanium plates and screws are used to hold this in place. There can be circumstances where they will be removed, although as with most bone surgery, they normally stay in place. Your teeth will not normally be wired together but small elasticated bands are likely to be in place for a while. If this concerns you, rest assured that the recovery time for orthognathic surgery is generally short. You’ll typically require a night in the hospital, followed by a week of time off from work or school.
